Puppy Days

We are enjoying the care of a young puppy called Muffin.  He is quite the little character and full of fun and energy.
It is lovely watching this puppy develop and grow week on week.  It is so fulfilling helping with his training and socialising experiences.

It's been a while....

Well, it's all been very busy here and I'm afraid the blog spot suffered somewhat. A promise to rectify that.
One of our most sensitive dog walking clients is make amazing progress.  This young fella requires very special handling and wears a muzzle.  He is a very lovely young dog, he is just very, very frightened.  I am so impressed by his owners' commitment and dedication to this fella.  They rescued him and have no idea as to what this poor dog has endured. I shudder to think.
This young dog is very, very slowly learning that everything is out there to hurt him.  It's is very rewarding working with this dog and his owners.

Adding to our little flock.

We have just added 2 new hens to our little group of Warrens.  We got a Light Sussex pullet and a Silver Sussex pullet.  They have been named Colin and Tiny by the children!  They are beatiful, happy and healthy girls.
We got them from a small holding couple in Skipton (  The couple were lovely, clearly very fond of their hens and incredibly knowledgeable, not to mention patient with me and my two boys.
The chooks seem to be settling in nicely with the other 3 (Dimples, Mellow and Freaky Beaky).

Our middle aged guest, is too cute! He is surprisingly more nimble than his waistline would suggest :)
Another guest we are totally in love with.
He was given a locust bean yesterday and it only tooks seconds for him to sniff it out from where I'd hidden it for him to find.

Cockatiel farewells

Said a very fond farewell to Ozzy today, a very clever feathered friend. Enjoyed the regular wolf whistles when I entered the room.  Sadly I'm not very good a whistling back but he didnt seem to mind and would "tut-tut-tut" at me which I could do back in reply.
A delightful character, he quickly became part of our family.  The house seems a duller place without him.  Looking forward to him brightening up our home again.

One of our baby rabbits has become a little shy

One of our baby rabbits has become a little shy. He's only a 11 weeks old but he had previously been the more outgoing of the brother and sister pair we bought. The previously timid sister is now the boldest and is almost dog like in her affection towards us.
We have decided to bring the boy (custard) back into the house again for a few overnight stays to try to get more accustomed to this space for progress.....

Broody chicken

One of our chooks has gone broody for the first time.  We are removing eggs almost as soon as they are laid and moving her out of the coop.  She is less than keen about this!
If this continues our options are a) let her continue for 3 weeks or b) remove her from the coop entirely over night.  Option b) is a little drastic, and we don't want to stress her out when she is already hormonal .  However, if her general health suffers then we will need to take the second approach by the end of the week.

Custard and Doughnut are here

We are very excited about the arrival of the new Focus home rabbits.  They are brother and sister and only 9 weeks old.  They are dwarf lop x english.  They are just adorable.  They will live apart some time yet, until they are heavy enough to be neutured and then at least 5 weeks after that.  Then we will look to bonding them....

Hope you enjoyed your holiday Button

We found little Button to be a very intelligent and curious little bun.  He kept us entertained watching his jumps and spins in his run.  Tunnels and the willow stick roll seemed to be the favourite toys.  Look to your next visit.
